Happy Monday! I thought the Essie Jelly Apple nail polish would be the perfect color to usher in the unofficial beginning of summer. This bright, punchy red is gorgeous and really does look like an apple. Every time I wear this shade, I’m instantly in a better mood. You just can’t be sad while wearing this shade. While I’m typing on my computer and I catch a glimpse of my nails, I smile inside because this color makes me so happy.
Unfortunately, this color has a tendency to chip. Typically I use Seche Vite dry fast topcoat because there’s nothing worse than watching paint dry. However, since Essie Jelly Apple can be prone to chipping, I top it off with my Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat from Sephora. That top coat will literally make your mani indestructible. I swear by it.
Aside from that minor issue, I think this nail polish is amazing. The color payoff is gorgeous and opaque. I’ve only got on two coats of polish and there is absolutely no streakiness. Also, this is one of those nail polish shades that is universally flattering– no matter your skin tone.
Like a great sidekick, this nail polish color plays nice with any outfit by complimenting the look without drawing too much attention to itself. This is definitely a classic that I recommend adding to your collection.
