We’ve all been there– feeling lethargic, unmotivated and burnt out. I’m coming out of a Crohn’s flare and that always leaves me in a bit of a slump. Here are a few things that I do to help me feel better and set me on the right track.

Try a pick me up for a boost in motivation

One of the major issues I face when in a slump is the lack of motivation, which is a major barrier to doing any of the items on this list. The Good Patch B12 Awake patches are a great way to give yourself the boost to fuel your day. They’re infused with caffeine, green tea and vitamin B12.

I just peel and stick onto the inside of your wrist. I could feel it kicking in within about 20 minutes. I can rely on these wellness patches give me a steady, non-jittery flow of energy for up to 8-12 hours. If you no longer need or want the benefits, just peel it off! Call a friend or family member

Humans are social creatures and we rely on community for support. I always feel better after catching up with a close friend or trusted family member. If you can meet up in person, even better! My boyfriend and I met up with some friends and neighbors on the rooftop. They helped me take photos for this blog post and even helped me set up the props. It was so fun having people join in. I even made a new friend along the way. We ended the night drinking wine as we watched the sunset over the NYC skyline.

Spend some time outdoors

Connecting with nature always makes me feel grounded. Bonus points if you bring a book to read! I picked up some books to read on the rooftop this summer.

The Girl Who Survived by Lisa Jackson and The Wife Before by Shanora Williams are two books full of suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. They’re both thriller novels with female leads. I’m excited to spend some time outdoors while unwinding with some binge reads.

Give your hair some TLC

Whenever I’m in a slump, the first thing to fall by the wayside is my haircare habits. I don’t know about you, but a fresh hairstyle always makes me feel like a brand new person. I’ve been using Dax Haircare since I was a child and apparently they’ve been around since long before then. After all these years their products still keep my hair in tip top shape.

I used the Dax for Naturals Protein Treatment. This hair mask gave new life to my neglected hair. I let it sit for a while and rinsed it out to reveal less breakage and my hair felt stronger. Use code BBOXX22 for 10% off at https://www.daxhaircare.com.

Incorporate movement in your life

Whether it’s a hot girl walk™, hitting the gym, or just dancing like no one is watching in your room– don’t underestimate the power of being active. Whenever I’n feeling down, my best friend asks me to take a walk with her or go to the gym with her. There’s something about getting your blood pumping that is a great mood lifter.

Get a mani-pedi

Whether you go to the professionals or opt for the DIY route, there’s something about a fresh mani-pedi that gives me an instant serotonin spike. I love using the Amopé Pedi Perfect Advanced electronic foot files for smooth feet without heading to the salon. Click here for a special offer.

I recently tried out Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in the shade “Hustle Mode.” This mid-tone cerulean blue is perfect for summer. I love that TFB is vegan, cruelty-free and made in the USA. Use code TFBXBB for 15% off your first purchase at www.trustfundbeauty.com.

Do some simple skincare

As much as I love a 12-step Korean skincare routine, when I’m in a slump even the simplest tasks can feel unsurmountable. I have no shame in ditching the extensive skincare routine and getting back to basics. Try a quick cleanse, tone and moisturize routine to lift your mood.

Image Skincare makes it easy to take care of your skin. Their Vital C Hydrating Facial Mist delivers hydrating active ingredients like vitamin c and luxe gold sub-microparticles via a convenient spray applicator. No fooling around with a cotton round. The Prevention+ Daily Matte Moisturizer offers broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection paired with an antioxidant blend to protect skin from environmental stressors. Use code Follow15 for 15% off at imageskincare.com.

Remember that you don’t have to do everything on this list. Even engaging in one of these activities is a positive step in the right direction. Getting out of a slump necessitates being patient with one’s self and taking small incremental steps to improve your wellbeing.
