The sound of a rooster cock-a-doodle-doo-ing wakes me from a deep slumber. I open my eyes and squint out of the massive picture window in front of the bed. Delighted that I had woken up just in the nick of time to watch as the sun rises over the mountainous horizon that I’ve come to know and love.
As I lie there in bed, mystified by the sheer beauty, it is as if nothing else in the world matters in that moment. My usual routine of scrolling through Instagram and Reddit upon waking has since been replaced by the simple act of basking in the glow of the sunlight as I watch the sunrise each morning.
After a few moments, I lazily stroll over to the bathroom to do my skincare routine, which has become somewhat of a ritual for me. Since I’m on vacay, I keep things simple– Cleanse, serum, and SPF. Done. Then I make myself breakfast. Usually, I have a bowl of oatmeal or whole wheat toast smeared with an unhealthy amount of raspberry preserves. If I’m feeling particularly bold, I’ll add on a side of Chex Mix (Don’t judge, we all have our vices!)
Once I’m done with breakfast, I head to the backyard and lie out by the pool with friends. Listening to the palm trees rustle in the wind proved to be very therapeutic for me.
The frequent and unannounced rainstorms were short-lived, lasting only a few minutes but once they were over a beautiful rainbow would often appear. One evening after a particularly bad storm, this gorgeous rainbow appeared in the sky. It was only for a moment but I was lucky enough to capture the moment on camera.
St Thomas has some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. The water is crystal clear and the sand is so soft in between your toes. My favorite beaches to visit are Lindquist Beach and Magens Bay Beach.
We spend most of our time at Magen’s Bay Beach. It’s quiet, peaceful, not too windy and absolutely stunning. The rest of the photos in this post are of Magen’s Bay Beach. If you ever visit St Thomas it is a must see.
Thanks so much for reading. Happy New Year!
