Rockaway Beach is a welcome change of scenery from the hustle and bustle of NYC. Located on a peninsula off of Queens, this sleepy beach town is easily accessible via public transportation— making it a popular choice for a quick and inexpensive weekend excursion for city dwellers here in NYC.

I’ve never been big on planning things but I’m always up for a last minute adventure! So I called up a few friends, grabbed a tote bag, filled it with a few snacks and hopped on the A train to spend the afternoon at Rockaway Beach.

Coincidentally, both of my friends who accompanied me to the beach are fellow South Carolinians living in NYC. I knew they would appreciate the Pure Leaf Tea House Collection. Southerners love our iced tea and Pure Leaf is a staple in the Palmetto State. They were thrilled that I brought Pure Leaf and it was such a wonderful refreshment while people watching on the beach.Enjoy Pure Leaf Tea in the Strawberry & Garden Mint flavor at Rockaway Beach.

The organic iced tea is delicious and sweet— but not saccharine. I’m particularly fond of the Strawberry & Garden Mint flavor. Plus, these bottles have screw on caps so they transport well. I suggest making a pit stop at the grocery store before heading to the beach to pick up any of the various Pure Leaf flavors.Enjoy Pure Leaf Tea in the Strawberry & Garden Mint flavor at Rockaway Beach.

I also packed My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream for a cool refreshing treat. I absolutely adore the strawberry flavor, but I definitely suggest trying out a few flavors to find your favorite. For the uninitiated, Mochi is a scoop of ice cream encapsulated by a rich dough exterior– making it the perfect beachside snack due to its portability. After snacks, I brought out a couple of bottles of Cavit rosé because it’s not a beach trip without some rosé! The flavor profile on this is fantastic and at $6.99 a bottle, it certainly beats buying drinks at the restaurants on the boardwalk.Save money by picking up a bottle of Cavit rosé to enjoy on Rockaway Beach.

While lying out soaking up the sun, I made sure to reapply SPF and refresh my makeup with the beauty water from Colleen Rothschild Beauty. You can apply this mist before or after makeup application. It kept my skin looking flawless all day! Use code BOXX20 for 20% off all regular priced items.

After a long day at the beach, I slipped out of my swimsuit and got dressed to get back onto the train. My Coobie bra kept me comfortable the whole ride home. Use code: BAB30 for 30% off any order! Valid until June 2019.How to plan a picnic at Rockaway Beach.

What I love about going to Rockaway Beach is that it doesn’t take much planning or money, just a quick trip to the grocery store beforehand for snacks and drinks followed by an hour long trip on the subway from Bushwick.

I caught up with my friends and got some reading done. I recently checked out a book called Bohemian Manifesto from the library. It’s a fun read all about the lifestyles of bohemians. I highly recommend it for some beachside reading material.
